Five: Holiday Galore

So, now that Halloween is over. It is OFFICIALLY okay to put up your Christmas decorations! Hip hip hooray! Along with the pretty lights and the holiday festivities, come the holiday treats! This edition of Five is going to introduce you to the wonderful, edible things that only come around this time of year. (If you like Peppermint Bark, READ ON.)

1.) Holiday Drinks at Starbucks. Hello Red Cups! (Chestnut Praline Latte) NOV.12th

– MOVE OVER PUMPKIN SPICE. The Chestnut Praline has arrived! This is a new addition to the Starbucks holiday line up this year (You didn’t know it was even coming, did you?). I haven’t tried it yet, but if it’s like anything else Starbucks makes during Christmas time, it HAS to be good. It’s described as espresso with steamed milk and the flavors of caramelized chestnuts and spices. On top, there’s whipped cream and spiced praline crumbs. Yummmm.

Bonus: If you think some of these holiday drinks are too sweet for you, try it with an extra shot of espresso. We love our coffee drinks STRONG. So I’ll get a double tall, triple grande, or quad venti:  __(insert your fave holiday drink here)___

2.) Pumpkin Beignets @ Disneyland Available Now

-We are Disneyland fanatics, and while we’re aware that not everyone has an annual pass, this holiday season would be a GREAT time to plan a trip to the happiest place on Earth! There are photo ops at every turn, Christmas spirit is in the air, and… they have Pumpkin Beignets (french donuts)!!! If you’re in to pumpkin-flavored anything, head on over to the Mint Julep (pictured above. It looks pretty Christmasy on its own, right? Bar located next to the French Market Cafe at Disneyland to taste these delicious holiday treats. Now, if you’ve tried the regular beignets at Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen or the Mickey Mouse Beignets at the Mint Julep Bar, you might be a little thrown off by these beignets. You’re probably used to the fried, crispy dough with the soft, warm inside that melts in your mouth with the powdered sugar coating. While the powdered sugar and crispy outside are still there, the inside is hollow and leaves a little to be desired. I guess it’s a preference thing, though. At least these pumpkin beignets don’t make you feel like you’re eating all our calories in one gulp (and they’re still delicious)!

3.) Peppermint Bark Cones @ Haagen Dazs Available Now

– Ice cream is always better in a cone. ALWAYS. But, what makes it even better? WAFFLE CONES DIPPED IN CHOCOLATE AND ROLLED AROUND IN PEPPERMINT BARK! Tracie found these and asked to me to put them in this Five post. A round of applause for Tracie, everyone! Thumbs up for blog hunting!

4.) Peppermint Bark Cheesecake Available after Thanksgiving
– Next time you’re at the Cheesecake Factory, step away from that extra avocado egg roll and SAVE SOME ROOM FOR DESSERT! Keeping with the holiday spirit, The Cheesecake Factory created a white chocolate cheesecake with chocolate peppermint bark inside. On top, there is a white chocolate mousse and chopped up peppermint. It’s decadent, but SO worth it!

5.) Peppermint Bark Muddy Buddies Available Soon?

– If you’ve had Chex Mix, you know that those little checkered puffs are one of the best parts (maybe that’s just me). They rolled out these muddy buddies that come in cookies and cream, brownies and cream, and peanut butter chocolate. During the holiday season, they bring out.. the PEPPERMINT BARK. These things are delicious! They melt in your mouth and have the tiniest bit of that refreshing mint feeling, due to the mint. I brought it to a party once, and they were INHALED.
